Supporting Adolescent Boys Trial
Conflict Resolution Service (CRS) has partnered with the Australian Government to trial a therapeutic support service for young men and adolescent boys aged 12 to 18. This service is designed for young people who have experienced trauma, particularly those who are at risk of engaging in family, domestic or sexual violence due to adverse childhood experiences.
The broader goal of this initiative is to empower young men to break free from cycles of violence and create lasting, positive change in their lives. This trial is not only about early intervention but also about empowering young men and boys to choose a different, healthier path. By providing support in the form of counselling, mentoring, and community resources, CRS is giving participants the tools they need to heal and transform their futures.
The therapeutic service offered is trauma and healing informed, ensuring that each young person receives care that acknowledges and addresses their individual experiences. This includes working with young men who may have been impacted by family violence, abuse, or neglect, helping them understand and recover from their past trauma.
The approach is also strengths-based, meaning that the program focuses not only on healing but also on empowering young people to build resilience, emotional intelligence, and healthier coping mechanisms. By fostering a sense of hope and personal agency, CRS aims to help participants avoid using violence to deal with conflict or trauma.
